BLOOMBERG is a major financial information product that is widely
used by traders around the globe. It includes delayed exchange
feeds from the world's exchanges, currency feeds from top inter-bank
trading floors, dozens of different news wires, and descriptive
information, research and financial statistics on over 52,000
companies worldwide.
Coverage also includes global securities markets, including
equities, money markets, currencies, municipals, corporate/Euro/Sovereign
bonds, commodities, mortgage-backed securities, derivative products
and governments. Bloomberg Business News covers companies, industries
and markets with over 3,000 stories/day.
The Bloomberg is available in room B66 at SOM; use is restricted
to currently enrolled SOM students and faculty for classroom assignments.
The Bloomberg in B66 has a link to Excel. Bloomberg is also available
for all currently enrolled Yale students and faculty for classroom
assignments at the Social Science Library (SSL), 140 Prospect
St. The SSL machine does not have an Excel link.
While vitally important to Wall Street, the Bloomberg doesn't
provide all of the information one needs for effective business
research. Complementary financial products include Datastream
and Compustat Research Insight. Onesource, Business Source Premier,
Factiva and Multex are major competitors in the business news
arena. To connect to these resources click on the Library link
