Professor Kim specializes in supply chain management and service operations. He focuses on practice-driven problems in these areas, building models based on tools from game theory, contract theory, econometric methods as well as operations research, in order to generate managerial insights and suggest ways to improve efficiency across supply chains and service networks. He has worked closely with the managers in the aerospace and defense industry, where ideas from his research have provided deeper understanding of the observed industry practices and contributed to policy implementations. His other research interests include interface between marketing and operational issues in retailing and analysis of low-probability, high-impact disruptions in supply chains.
